April 4th

Home at last! Home at last!

We can't begin to tell you guys how wonderful it fills to be at home. First, the ride home yesterday was awesome. Mike and Alisha's motor home is beautiful, it really was like being on tour with someone famous. It was the best way that Kirk could have possibly rode home. He could just kick back and relax. Mike had to drive for about 15 hours yesterday. I don't know how he did it but we will always be so grateful to him and Alisha. Allen Dix was his co-captain and we said that Alisha was the stewardess. So we really had a good day.

When we got home, Matthew, Chase, Don, Alexis and Brittany were all here. They had all the lights on and a big banner in the kitchen that the kids at school had signed. The homecoming was so sweet and emotional for all of us. Mike said that was the best part of the whole trip for them to see how happy we all were.

Then last night, to sleep in our own bed. I can't even describe that, it felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. At one point I thought about pinching myself to make sure it was real.

Kirk has had a good day. He's just been relaxing and watching some t.v. Now he just needs to continue eating and putting his weight back on. Then we will worry about treatments. Again, thank you all for your comments and prayers I know that is why things are continuing to look up. Prayers are being answered.
I wish there was a way that we could do something for everyone that has reached out to us. You all are so special and we love you all! We will keep this site updated because it has been so useful for everyone. Again, thank you continue to pray and God Bless!

Kirk and Laura, I can't even imagine how good it feels to be home with your family and in your own bed! I am just so thankful that you are back in R.R. I wish that the weather was as warm this week as it was last week but, maybe this cold snap won't last long. Kirk, please make yourself eat and drink. We don't want you to have to go back to the hospital because of dehydration. You are on a roll now so please keep it going. You know that if you are craving anything special that someone will be glad to see that you get it. I have heard that milkshakes made from Ensure are pretty good and good for you, too. Take care of yourself and keep fighting, We will keep sending up prayers.

We Love All You Guys!!

Kirk and Laura,
Glad your back home and that Kirk is doing better! You said something about repaying for all the prayers and support, this is the town's way of repaying both of you for everything you have done for the town and the youth for all your years of dedication to them! Just know that everyone thinks highly of you both and hope that Kirk continues to gain strength every day and gets back to his old self quickly! Skyler is so happy the Chase is on his baseball team! Bet they have a great year again!
ANYTHING that you need or might want please let us know.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you always,
Don, Joyce, Nichole and Skyler

Welcome Home! I'm Glad to hear you had such a great trip home and that you were so well taken care of. I know this is the best present ever, for the boys to have mom and dad home. And the best medicine in the world is Kirk being back in this comfort zone. Laura, you and Kirk for years and years have given of yourselves and your time in this community doing things to better Rural Retreat for the kids and others, never once having asked for anything, You let Rural Retreat keep pampering you both, you deserve it. You Both rest up and eat and take care. We all hope to see you out and about soon. Meanwhile, if you need anything feel free to call we are right up the road. God Bless and we continue to keep you all in your prayers.
