March 23rd

The "immediate" relief that we were all expecting Kirk to have after his procedure yesterday did not happen. He was still pretty nauseous this morning. He slept most of the day. His white blood cell count is low. The docs say this is due to the chemo treatment. He is very weak, but hopefully he will start to feel better in a few days when his blood count goes up. He received blood platelets yesterday. Laura is staying with him in his room. She is sleeping in a chair. She won't leave him for very long at a time, only long enough to get herself something to eat. Please remember Kirk and Laura both in your prayers. He is struggling right now and he needs our prayers. Remember the healing and prayer service at Grace Lutheran on Sunday at 2pm.

Thank you.

Monica

Dear Kirk & Laura,

We just learned of your site last night. I am sorry that you did not get the results you were looking for. Being a Oncology nurse, I know the ups and downs of this dreadful disease. My patients always told me that sour stuff helped tremendously with the nausea. We are keeping you in our prayers, and anything that we can do for you or your family don't hesitate to call. When you get home
please let me know if you need anything at all. Keep thinking positive because this goes a long way in the healing process. May God bless you and your family.

Everyday, we pray for you and we log on to check your progress, and daily as we drive through Rural Retreat we think of how much you mean to Rural Retreat, you are the spirit of this town, you carry the hope and dreams for our children in your heart and soul. You are true Orange and Black. You have a strength and caring for these kids that few people these days have. You give of yourself for these kids. The kids of this town wether they are 5 or 18, they know your passion and determination in life. This whole community is waiting for you to come home, to once again show us all the strength and determination that we have come to know as synonymous with Kirk Heldreth. This town needs you and we will accept nothing less. With all the love and prayers this community has for you, you have no choice but to get better and come back to us.

God Bless You, Laura, and the boys. You are in our hearts and prayers.

Dear Kirk and Laura,
I just heard about you being sick a few days ago. I live in TX so news is rather slow reaching me sometimes. Laura I did read in the paper about your Dad and wanted to say how sorry I am, I know how hard that is in normal times much less in times like these. Kirk you have always been a fighter and I know you are now. You keep fighting and we all will keep praying for a full recovery.
Love,
Emily Spain Hall
